As part of Safeguarding Me Week, we supported Children’s Mental Health Week https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/
The Week was set up by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. Place2Be is a children's mental health charity providing school-based support and in-depth training programmes to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families, teachers and school staff. This year’s theme was Healthy: Inside and Out and it encouraged everyone to think about how they look after their bodies and minds. When we think about healthy living, we tend to focus on looking after our bodies – our physical wellbeing – through food, being active and getting enough sleep. However, to be healthy overall, it is important that we look after our minds – our mental wellbeing – too.
We thought about how some of the things that we do to look after our body, also helps to look after our minds. Each class was set a whole school task to complete for their homework. They brought in their favourite healthy treat, or shared something that they like to do, like playing football, walking their dog, hula hooping or reading a bedtime story. Children donated a £1 to support the Charity Place2Be.
